AID KIT FOR NEW MOMS

“You know you’re a mom because you have baby wipes in every bag, room, car, and under the stroller.”

When the firstborn comes into the world, we have bags full of diapers, wipes, creams, etc. The little one lies there and pees and poops, and these are the priority accessories packed under the stroller. Our resources for older toddlers look different.

Today, I will provide a short list of what new mothers need for toddlers. When our kids start walking, let alone running and using all the devices that are faster than me: balance bike, scooter, bicycle, etc.

For most advanced moms, this list may seem ridiculous because they have had these kits in their bags. But when I started my adventure with motherhood, my experiences were poor. I learned a lot from my own mistakes. Then I understood what kit for my children I have to have on hand at every step, and what I can do without.

PLASTERS

For a long time I didn’t realize that plasters are so damn necessary in a bag. Of course, children didn’t walk, didn’t ride scooters, bikes, and most importantly, they didn’t use their legs. I carried them in a carry bag or laid them in strollers. However, as soon as they started walking, their knees and elbows were scraped and often bled. Now, when I see a child fall off a bike or fall over, and they’re not my children, I still run with a plaster. I had an adventure when my son was running down a hill and slipped on gravel; his knees and elbows were bleeding. Another mother with children who passed us reacted very quickly, pulling out miraculous plasters.

The patches definitely occupy the first place in the imagination of my children, as the main anesthesia for them. And for the mother, as a guarantee of reducing the drama on the part of the child.

WET AND DRY WIPES

How much do we use wet or dry wipes? I use huge amounts!! Travelling by train, car, or plane – essential! The same on the playground, in the shop, in the cinema, in public toilets. Everywhere extremely important and protect children from bacteria. My little precious always gets dirty outside and always walks around with snot. I once heard a statement from parents that when their children stopped having a runny nose, the parents were afraid that the children had fallen ill. It was similar to me. Whether it was cold or warm, the runny nose was always there, not persistent, but it seemed to me that the snot from under my child’s nose never disappeared. The worst thing that is bloody hard to remove from a child without wet wipes is mud and wet sand. You simply have to have them because they do all the work when there is no water nearby. For example, recently I needed tissues when Dora spilled juice, and then wet wipes to remove the sticky residue from the table. Of course, the waitresses can clean it up, but I always feel obligated that if my kids spilled it, I’ll clean it up.

A PIECE OF PAPER AND A PEN

Again, a true story from my side. Patrick had a performance, like every year, children who take flute lessons showed off their talents. Last year, we barely sat down and Dora fell asleep, but this year her energy did not leave: she jumped up and down the stairs, she went from my husband’s, grandma’s, and grandpa’s lap to mine. She played with my hair, played with grandma’s necklaces, and played with her shoes that were taken off. In the last 15 minutes, she fell off the chair and started being naughty. Requests did not help; she wanted to leave, and that was it.

I did not have a backpack with me, only an elegant handbag, suitable for such entrances. I even found a pen in my tiny handbag, but I did not have a notebook, so I used small notes that I collected for free coffee, notes on visits to the dentist, and the hairdresser. And it ended with Dora sitting quietly on the floor, drawing on these notes. Luckily, these little notes were enough to keep her occupied and calm until the end of the concert.

MASKARA AND OTHER ESSENTIAL COSMETICS

As for me, I rarely needed it, because I rarely wear makeup. You may consider them unnecessary, mothers without makeup, unless you live through my story. I was in a hurry to get ready for a performance on Mother’s Day. My office closes at 3:00 p.m. and the performance at 3:30 p.m. I did some light makeup, mascara on my eyes, slightly emphasized eyebrows, and it was ready. I answered the phone and left with one eye painted. The contrast was terribly visible. Of course, wet wipes and smeared mascara are also a good choice. Except that it was Mother’s Day! Every year, a professional photographer took pictures with the child, and I wanted to look better than ever. After this situation, I always have mascara in my purse, and this cosmetic has saved me more than once.

LONG-TERM SNACK

I mean: dried fruit, breadsticks, lollipops. If you don’t have any of that in your bag, start using fruit gum. I love mint gum, but fruit gum has saved me from drama with my daughter more than once. No big deal, even small chupa chups lollipops, and you will prevent a big problem. Doesn’t matter that my kids have left home after dinner if they see another kid eating something, and they automatically get hungry.
