A VOICE FROM THE HEART TO ALL PARENTS

“In the end, I would rather be able to say I loved too much than not enough.”

Christopher Poindexter

I have kept this text in drafts for a long time. I returned to these entries many times, added new ones, and even more times the created uniquely sentences melted my heart. These are very simple notes, very honest, and probably most parents go through this. My text is filled with basic and sincere parenting experiences that we all know, but parents don’t talk about it out loud and don’t spread the word about it.

When you are ready my dear parents, this post is especially for you.

DEAR PARENTS,

I know how difficult it is to stay calm, explain the same rules over and over again, and soothe children. I know what it is like to be surrounded by people’s accusing glances every day. You try to teach your children the best behavior all day long and you still feel your failure.

I UNDERSTAND, I AM WITH YOU

DEAR PARENTS,

I know parents aren’t screaming, they are explaining. But your soul screams loud, your heart just broke into 1000 pieces. Your mind is overloaded and your parental feelings are drowning in pain.

I UNDERSTAND, I AM WITH YOU

DEAR PARENTS,

I know the morning wasn’t the best. I can see how much you are trying to make your children happy. You are preparing a meal, their favorite. Children shouted in your face that the food is gross. At the end of your diligence, you will hear: that you are “The worst mom in the world.”

I UNDERSTAND, I AM WITH YOU

DEAR PARENTS,

The day is over, you are physically tired, you are silent, and have no conversation. Your heart and soul can no longer bear painful situations, emotions, and sharp words. Full of frustration, weariness, and chaos, you bring yourself into conflict with your partner.

I UNDERSTAND, I AM WITH YOU

DEAR PARENTS,

When you see other parents trying to explain, use magic powers to suppress emotions and hold tight so as not to explode. Just respect them, don’t look and walk away. They know best what they are doing. Probably better than anyone else. And you also realised their soul screams in helplessness and tension.

I UNDERSTAND, I AM WITH YOU

DEAR PARENTS,

In the evenings, like most parents, you swallow your tears of weakness and pretend how strong you are, how powerful you are. In your thoughts, you are planning a better tomorrow. It was a very difficult day with extremely difficult moments.

I UNDERSTAND, I AM WITH YOU

DEAR PARENTS,

Remember that all the torments of the day fade away and my tears dry quickly as I look at the sleeping, peaceful faces of my children. Do the same because

I UNDERSTAND YOU, I AM WITH YOU
