THE END OF CHOCOLATE IS THE END OF THE WORLD
“My best friend – chocolate chip cookies”
Now, instead of Christmas commercials and treats, I see advertisements for slimming agents, slimming teas, and other diet-promoting products everywhere. https://littlepuzzlesandme.com/do-i-really-look-like-what-i-eat/
Chocolate for breakfast was not the reason
I’ve never been a fan of diets. My body is resistant to a chocolate bar that I eat with my morning coffee every day but not very resistant to a sandwich, croissant, potatoes, and of course, beer.
Eating chocolate chip cookies, chocolate bars, or anything that contains chocolate for breakfast, my body digested faster and better than a baguette, roll, or bread. And the same with dinners, rice or pasta didn’t accumulate belly fat, but potatoes were worse digested. I don’t think I need to write too much about beer, except that it was the beer that bloated my stomach the most.
And all these are not my suggestions, but frequent check-ups with a professional nutritionist and the introduction of a new menu to my life.
I pay attention to this right now because I know from my experience many people, including my friends, struggle with various diets. Some of them tortured themselves by eating almost nothing. Then the yo-yo effect increased twice.
“The biggest problem in losing weight is a poorly selected diet.“
The appearance of small ball
There were moments in my life when I didn’t care what and when I ate. Subconsciously, since childhood, I was not an enemy of vegetables, I could eat vegetables for breakfast lunch, and dinner, but I always did not like meat.
I love sweets, but without exaggeration, as always with my morning coffee.
And on this menu, I looked and felt good.
Years passed, my job changed, the places I stayed in, and my diet changed too. I didn’t have time to prepare breakfast, so I usually bought a baguette, a sandwich, a roll or a croissant in nearby cafes. I skipped lunch and ran hungry for the next few hours. In the evening, when I had less work, I overeat and go straight to bed. Of course, from all this arose the problem of rapid weight gain.
In two years I became 12 kg (26.45 pounds)heavier. With my height, I began to resemble a small ball. Eventually, I started feeling bad about it and looking bad.
Time for my diet
From making any mistakes at the beginning of the diet, I was saved by my closest friend and nutritionist in one. Then a novice nutritionist who developed a diet for herself focused her work on me.
The most important thing I remembered and it worked – do not use a violent or aggressive diet. Treatments such as not eating, drinking plenty of water, and pretending to be well should be prohibited. Such a diet destroys the body and causes the yo-yo effect.
My slow weight loss process took 2 years. Was an awfully long time for me, but the expected effect came.
Losing weight at this pace didn’t cause problems with metabolism or mental problems. I know how diets can break the psyche and lead to depression. Improper diet is also harmful to the psyche.
And in my nutrition, the problem was not too little varied food or too few vegetables. There was too much bread during the day. Sandwiches, baguettes or croissants contained a lot of calories and did not give me satiety for longer. Secondly, we introduced smaller portions of food for the evening. I even managed to replace the beer with a glass of wine and a glass of water. My dietician says:
“People should drink water throughout the day and even at night.”
And you know the best thing, after this diet I got used to the lack of bread or potatoes. I am happy to choose this change on my menu. I suspect I’d be less happy if I had to cut Snickers out of my life.
And I only wrote this because we need nutritional balance in our lives to feel good. We don’t have to give up all the foods we like. We can find substitutes, these days the availability of low-calorie foods is huge.
Sometimes it’s enough to just try and not torment yourself alone. You need to know for yourself whether you want to start a dietary treatment. But if you feel good, don’t frustrate your body and head with diets.
