STEP BY STEP TO CREATE BOOK
BRAINCHILD AT HOME
The idea was born when my son returned one day from the Nursery with millions of questions about another planet, aliens, stars, spaceships, rockets, etc. His curiosity about the cosmos, and especially aliens, grew day by day. Week after week he repeated the same questions. My galactic headache has begun.
Look for example
We tried to search the internet for some books with friendly aliens. But all the cartoon aliens terrified him. He knows that aliens don’t look like humans, but the eyes of zombie or vampire teeth, do not comfort a 3-year-old boy.
EXPLORING THE GALAXY
We painted many drawings of friendly aliens. I made a lot of little stars, that I hung on the walls in my son’s room. We built rockets from empty boxes and prepared the first sketch of our alien. My fridge door definitely looked like it was from another planet.
BEDTIME STORY
A gentle, funny and colorful fairy tale has already been born. In our imagination, we created the main characters: a boy and a friendly alien. The story of their meeting was their bedtime story for the first weeks, every evening, over and over again.
TEXT FOR BOOK
One evening a vision of a friendly and jelly alien appeared in my head. The next morning I wrote a story where a boy named Patrick became friends with an alien named Blueblueblablab (I have trouble pronouncing the name, but my son loves the name).

The paper pages lay in the drawer for several months. One evening I brushed them of the dust and wrote them down on my computer. Then I made millions of copies, some sent to friends and family and some saved in a folder “Oops! It’s Jelly” .
It was an easy start.
SKETCHES TIME
Slowly, slowly, I was creating sketches of the main heroes: a boy and an alien. And the first troubles appeared. My drawing looked like drawings by a 4-year-old girl.
Then I really thought it was over. Who will recreate my vision from sketches and some children’s drawings? Just an illustrator reading my mind.
MAKE VISION REAL
Incredibly, it became a reality and I met Miss Ola from https://olawsieci.pl who was on the phone 24/7. She answered all e-mails with many of my questions about working on the book.
I was lucky to find this professional Illustrator, because it was Miss Ola who gave life to the main characters of my book. And she continues the plan with my next parts “Oops! It’s Jelly”.

My book “Oops! It’s Jelly“ was added to Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) on Amazon 03/19/2022. It is Amazon’s publishing platform and the most accessible place for self-publishing authors. My first level of happiness and confidence has been achieved.
My book is also available in Polish language “Ups! To jest galaretka”.

From a PDF file, Amazon will print your book to order each time it sells. For me it was the best solution for unnecessary printing my book.
How many pages does a KDP book have to be?
The minimum page count is 24 pages, and the maximum page count depends on ink, paper, and trim size options.
An example of a small number of pages (18 pages) was my book “Oops! It’s Jelly” because I was guided by the number of words (500 best) for children aged 3-5. We solved the problem by adding 6 coloring pages for kids.
Will Amazon help me with book marketing?
Yes. Amazon has powerful marketing tools and support resources of your choice. For example, my choice was a weekly book promotion. When you have even a small amount of cash, Amazon’s marketing is beneficial on a large scale.
Does Amazon KDP provide an ISBN?
For paperbacks and hardcover books, KDP can provide you with a free ISBN.

Book sales rankings are updated hourly, but it can take 24 to 48 hours after the first completed sale.
