NEW YEAR! WILL MY KIDS AND I ACHIEVE OUR GOALS AGAIN?
How do you feel in the New Year?
Are there any resolutions, prohibitions, or goals?
Do you want to change anything from the old year?
Did everything go smoothly and will we carry over the same goals to the New Year?
New Year in the Life of Parents
From a parent’s perspective, sometimes it was uphill, sometimes downhill. There were waves of successes, but also waves of parenting failures.
Of course, parents most often think about their children, not about themselves. https://littlepuzzlesandme.com/a-voice-from-the-heart-to-all-parents/
Throughout the last year, I have wondered what I am doing right and, more often, what I am doing wrong. https://littlepuzzlesandme.com/ordinary-mornings-by-boss-baby/
With children every day brings surprises. As we all know, we will look away for 2 seconds and our favourite teddy bears will be covered in Sudocrem.

SAVE FROM DISASTER
You will see that parents’ main goal every day, month, and year is to protect their children from another disaster and their families from total chaos.
As a parent, based on what I have learned from my children over the last few years, I have some stories that have stuck in my head because they were either very funny or very scary.
- 2020 – Patrick was exactly 3 years old when his little sister was born. He talked about playing football with her and building Lego towers.
After two days he was very disappointed that Dora only lay, slept and ate. He came up with the idea that Dora might have no energy, just like Mom’s phone sometimes does. When I came back from the toilet he tried to put the charger cable in her ear and charge her a little to make her more energetic. - 2021 – The grandparents were dropping off our son at his friend’s birthday party. Our daughter, then 1.5 years old, sensed the commotion and reached for the popcorn. And for some unexplained reason or purpose, the popcorn didn’t interest her as much as the actual kernel of corn, which she had stuck up her nose. While all the parents around were panicking and coming up with good advice, the grandparents almost had a heart attack. Dora was having a great time with the other kids, and then Patrick ran up to Grandma with a kernel of popcorn in his hand and said: “Dorothy sneezed, the popcorn popped out, and she fell asleep.” https://littlepuzzlesandme.com/times-for-childrens-party-is-time-for-shocking-surprise/
- 2022 – Dorothy found my makeup bag and put brown eyeshadow on herself, the bathroom rug, and the tub. I didn’t have time to clean it up because I was already late for work after washing Dorothy. Around 2:00 PM I got a call from my husband: ”Why the bathroom was covered in poop”.
- 2023 – Patrick discovered the differences in the physique of women and men. He drew me a silhouette of a woman on a steamy bathroom mirror, but only the face and big tits. He called me in a cheerful voice to see the drawing (bellow):
“Patrick, where did you see such big boobs? Those weren’t mom’s boobs”.
“Mom, stop. Of course, I am not copying from yours; that’s just imagination.”
5. 2024 – The same story with Dora, many details started to appear in her drawings after the age of four. In Pre-school her teacher asked for a drawing of Dad at work. Dalibor works in a call center, so he is automatically drawn with headphones on, but I don’t think my husband ever worked naked at home. Maybe I’m wrong?!
