LOVE IS IN THE AIR
The first hours of my business trip to London scheduled have not gone well. I overslept because instead of the “snooze” option on the mobile, I pressed “turn off the alarm clock”, which happens to me regularly, especially on an important day. So I didn’t have time to drink my morning coffee and didn’t realize it was raining. I’m lucky I brought my red hat. The hat saved my hair from a total mess, but the truth is, this red hat has helped me out of trouble more than once. Sometimes I even thought that all bad days were hatless days, so there must be some magic to it. I ran out of the house and tried to order a taxi, but when I left the building, the taxi was already there:
“Magic!” – I shouted to the taxi driver.
“I don’t know such a street.”
“I’m sorry. To the airport, please.“
After checking in at the airport, I had a few minutes to buy hot chocolate and cookies:
“To warm you up and make you feel better today.” – I said quietly.
The pleasure of drinking hot chocolate was amazing. All the bad moments in the morning quickly disappeared. I opened my imagination to the magical options hidden in my red hat:
“Maybe if I want something, it will come true too? But which of my wishes are very important today?”
As it happens in my life often, a bad day can very quickly turn into a good or even a fantastic day. And this is just the beginning of my red hat magic. I try not to look at the gentleman sitting next to me on the plane. His eyes are shining with fury. I feel like I know him from somewhere, but certainly not from a good story. I ordered a glass of prosecco. Bubbles make me happy faster.
“I wish this gentleman felt happy with me” – I whispered into my red hat.
*******
“Oh, crap! I overslept. Damn mobile, it’s dead again!“
I didn’t have time for anything, so I ordered a taxi and after 5 minutes I stood in front of my apartment and waited.
I watched a small rain turn into a heavy rain, and a heavy rain turns into a thunderstorm in a matter of minutes. My coat started soaking up water like a sponge and it got damn heavy. I started to have a flood in my shoes, but the cab I ordered didn’t show up. To catch a taxi again, I decided to walk closer to the main road. I took another step when a speeding huge lorry passed me and all the water, actually, the waterfall, flooded my body.
“What did I notice around the corner?!“
A lady with something red on her head gets into my taxi. I wanted to shout something, but another truck drove by and the waterfall closed my mouth.
“And what do I see now?“
I’m waiting with the same person, in the same queue, for a flight to London. You have to be damned unlucky to see the person of your misfortunes next to you. Maybe if she took off that hat, I might not recognize her, but why? Better to be visible. Probably this witch can’t see the world around her through that red hat. I wonder if she saw my morning tragedy. On the other hand, I hope not because it’s really humiliating. Shit! A company briefcase full of important documents is also wet. I don’t know if I can dry them in a two-hour flight and return my human appearance to normal.
In my everyday life, as usual, behind a small tragedy, there is another, bigger one. On the plane next to me sits a devilish lady in a red hat. I immediately ordered a whiskey with coke to calm down, but also to warm up. I downed the whiskey in one gulp and tried to take off my soaking coat, but I was so clumsy that I accidentally knocked off my witch’s hat. It was the first time we looked at each other:
“I’m sorry.”
She just smiled innocently picked up her hat and whispered something.
“Jesus, she’s not only an evil witch, but she’s also mental. Double bonus!”
After another drink, I sorted out the wet papers from my briefcase and began spreading them across my lap. From time to time I felt the eyes of the devil lady staring at me. Fortunately, the alcohol was relaxing, so I calmed down and decided to take a closer look at her. She had exceptionally beautiful eyes. Thick, dark curls soaked in water contrasted well with her black eyes. I stopped seeing her as an evil witch in the morning experience. I couldn’t take my eyes off her and even wanted to ask her when suddenly she turned around and said:
“Please don’t get mad at me for this incident in the morning. Maybe next time you will steal my cab. I’m very sorry and I feel terribly uncomfortable sitting next to the person who is staring at me with killer eyes.”
“I’m not angry anymore, can I order a prosecco for you?”
Another wish from the red magic hat came true…
