ONE IMPORTANT THOUGHT FOR TODAY

“To be happy with a woman you must love her a lot and not try to understand her at all.”

DAY OFF

We had a very active weekend. My two children’s birthday and my father-in-law’s 70th birthday. To be honest, after the weekend activities, we were more tired than our children. Which probably comes as no surprise to most parents. My husband decided to take a day off and have a so-called weekend detox.

However, I didn’t think that for him the day off was really time from morning to evening without any obligations, efforts, and problems. https://littlepuzzlesandme.com/mens-zone-and-their-life-stories/

And for me, Monday is usually two whole days with lots of chores:

  • The laundry grew after the weekend.
  • The house after two parties was stuffed with birthday serpentine from floor to ceiling.
  • A lot of annoying balloons and streamers flew with every one of my steps.
  • Small pieces of wrapping paper, leftover chips, and other easily crumbly snacks hide under the sofa.
  • Some sticky fluid on the floor stuck to my socks.

MOMMY AND DADDY BRAINSTORM

And in my brain from the very morning, there was a plan of action for the day, and in it:

We are low on cornflakes and cacao. Add to the shopping list.

What I can make for dinner? Patrick has risotto in Preschool and Dora fish pie. I can make spaghetti. Yes, that is such a good idea.

We are out of toilet paper and laundry detergent.

We have to pick up Patrick early today because he has a dental appointment.

Should I change my children’s bed?

I feel like I’m forgetting something.

I can’t remember the last time I sat down and just had a coffee. Without this storm of thoughts in my head. I know it’s just us mothers who have this planning and organizing freak. After all, a birthday party must be properly prepared so that the child feels special on this most important day. And for my children, my affairs, interests, and most of all, my thoughts have undergone this transformation.

I could think about my internal changes more, but my husband, lying on the couch for half a day, spoke up:

“Honey, I’ve been thinking for a long time about what I’d like to eat. And I’m craving a burger.”

That was his most important thought for today. I wish I had that calm, no strings attached, insignificant thoughts.

And you – mommy? What thoughts dominate your mind?

And you dads? Can surprise me too.
