How do children create art on stone?
Welcome back to the Do It Yourself project.
Summer is approaching, days are warmer and it’s a reason to be longer outside. Hopefully, we can spend more time with our sweetie pea in the playground, park, or forest. As well for children is a time to discover nature, that’s why they usually disappear into the bush and search for precious things.
My “little puzzles” never get bored looking for stones: small, big, round, oblong, and huge stones. The oversize rocks I left in the grass mostly, if children do not pay attention. At home, asked by my children: Where did the largest specimens disappear? I show a surprised face.
After a few hours of exploring, my bag is full of treasures and their pockets are full too. This is the main reason why my dirty and happy children are ready to go home.
My kids don’t wait for rainy days to paint and decorate stones. Straight after we back from the trip they start working with them. The sooner the work is done, the sooner they will be able to share their little art with the world.
An important is that they love to create art on stones. More rocks mean more wonderful times for children’s creativity. The next step in this craft, which my “little puzzles” like the most, is decorating the stones with details. After completing the work, we will put the entire, artistically decorated stone in a specially designated place (sharing is carrying). In our city, a special place for pretty stones is located in one of the parks. Kids use to make decisions about where they wanted to leave the decorated stone, or to whom to give it.
What little puzzles will be created today?

What my little puzzles don’t need?
DISTURBING PARENTS
They work great together. My little daughter had the most fun painting the stones and my older son focused the most on decorating the stones and painting details. I’m helping them only with cleaning the brush and refilling the paints. In meantime find time for your morning coffee. https://littlepuzzlesandme.com/ordinary-mornings-by-boss-baby/
What do my little puzzles need?
- full stomach
- drink near to them
- smile
- patience – only because children create together
- good energy
And everything on the list below:
☆stones
☆tables cover
☆acrylic paints, markers, crayons, everything you have at home that best suits your child
☆plastic wiggly eyes stickers, or any stickers which you have, but not necessary, children can draw
☆anything that will help your child to better decorate stones
What will we use for an unplanned mess?
☆ wet wipes
☆ toilet paper
Let me show you how easy the process of stone art looks:
1. Paint the stone in your favorite color.
TIPS:
■much better first paint one side of the stone, let them dry, and after paint another side.
■ use as little water as possible
2. Glue two, one, or more wiggly eyes onto your stones.
3. Any more details like a nose or hair can be created too. Let your children choose the best style.
4. Check out our photos that will help your child with creation.
